I am leasing agent that works directly for the owner and have been making 4% of the total lease. The owner
is concerned that I am beng paid too much. I have read a lot that illustrates that is the low end of %'s. Any thouhgts or comments? Thanks!

I always ask 10% unless, they have a bulk number of properties. 10% is nothing to an owner if you are really taking care of the properties, and placing great tenants.

As Cindy said, commissions of any sort should not be discussed. You're barking up the "antitrust tree" and asking for trouble.

Kim,
He is getting a deal! My co. runs a property management and we charge 10% and with the headaches I see going on in the leasing dept. I think that's to low. Just my opinion though. Hope everything works out well for you. Fri May 2 2008, 11:32

Kim-perhaps you should talk to your broker regarding your fees. You fail to mention whether this is a commercial property or a residental property which would have different fee structures. Commissions are not a subject that we should discuss as they are negotatied between an agent and their client whether it is a sale or a lease.
