Paul,
It would be incredibly benefical to you to read the entire SEO manual provided by Google. It is free and can be downloaded in 3.8 milliseconds. It is fundamental, incredibly important, to know what marketers are selling. View, impressions, receipts. visits...is the fluff that seperates hard working folks from their money.
-
Let's keep it real, if those 3,000 view come to your for a total of 15 cents...that can't hurt you.
-
With the help of the G-SEO you can do the math.
Those 3000 views will have a .002 click through. That's a total of six (6).
20% of click throughs convert if you have a KILLER landing page in sync with your ad, that can go as high as 60%. Being optimistic, that's one conversion. As you know, only one in five coversions actually close a transaction.
-
Doing the math that ONE lead will cost you, $200, $600, no don't tell me $1,500!
Unless you have the optons of a personalized ad on the FRONT page (homes.com does not allow that as part of your fee) you will be wasting your money.
-
Becuase you are asking this question, I can, with great confidence, say you are not aware of the process of creating the compounding environment for making your own landing pages work. Start with getting a copy of the 12 step sales letter and a tutorial on messages and appeals. As you study the 12 step, you will soon realize this is how EVERYTHING is sold. Did I say EVERYTHING? Conform all your media to this format....then keep your money in your pocket. Buying view 'vapors' is for rookies.

I tried it for a short period of time and realized VERY quickly there wasn't much if any ROI. Instead I have focused on building my online presence through consistent blogging, a strong SEO website and my advertising dollars are spent on one of the top 3 public sites (Trulia, Zillow, REALTOR.com).

I like Phil's answer. Lead generators are just ways to dip into your real estate pocket to get money. Most sell the same leads to multiple agents or they fabricate them to sell to you. It will be a waste of money but it will take you hundreds to thousands of dollars to figure it out. Agents not making enough money always have and will look for the easy way to change it and these lead generator vampires know it and they hire good salesmen to sell you because "YOU WANT TO BELIEVE". It's easy to sell to someone who wants to believe. Save your money or send me some and I'll send you garbage leads too.
