Active Rain (AR) is a great lead generating website if you are willing to invest the time to blog--since becoming active on AR I have seen my website become #1 for most of the key search terms for my area which in turn has driven more traffic to my website--I currently have 89 active "leads" signed up on my website who are receiving daily email search updates from me. However, the other piece of the puzzle is having a great website to capture those leads--my top pick is real pro.

Best of Luck To You,
Judi

Trulia by far has been the best for leads that are ready to sell or ready , willing and able to buy. Active Rain has been great for building a database of future customers. CL has been great for attracting scam artists.

Please see my blog for what Trulia has done for me, i have included soem great tips and advice i have received from other agents as well

Many agents need to focus more on their website use these sites as just exposure. A good website with right SEO talent don't have to worry about much ...

Google.
I still get more leads from Google searches that take the prospect directly to my web site than I do from Trulia, AR, etc.
Howz come nobody is mentioning Realtor.com? It's still the #1 web destination for consumers, ain't it?

I agree with Joan, we are all fishing the same pond here on Trulia, Zillow and CL. Make your benefits and services a distinguishable value.

However, I want you to consider the reality that you are the best lead generation system for high quality leads in existance. You should own your lead generation process and system.

Let me share what I've been successful with that has direct comparison with your location in Rochester. There you have a relocation business driven by X, K and B&L. Additonally, your area is rich with many 'God given graces' that make it unique. There are attractions that can be exploited such as Disney for me, Niagra for you. Toronto and Dunedin Blue Jays for me, Rochester Red Wings for you. Gulf of Mexico/Lake Ontario but we have no skiing here!

I would encourage you to create real localized identity and provide web based resources for everyone who is in a Rochester frame of mind. In your localized web marketing, make certain you incorporate the same human emotion element that keeps folks coming to Trulia.

You can understand that I won't share the details in this forum. However, we can make the fire bigger with a priviate discussion or follow up with my MAi marketing director, Les, at: maigroup1leso(AT)gmail.com

Hi David
The best success I have had i with Trulia,& Zillow like everyone else we are all competing for the same business. It is the luck of the draw. My best advice is to work on your profile, make it stand out & contribute your advice often on whatever site you decide to use.

Trulia is the best site for leas.. I have to say, hands down. The others, just back ups for the occasional lead, but not even in the same league.
