Did you see the ActiveRain announcement today?

Asked by Elizabeth Bolton, Cambridge, MA Tue Apr 8, 2014

It looks like ActiveRain and Trulia will really be "married" tomorrow as AR moves onto Trulia. Here's the link to the announcement with details:

I haven't been active on AR for some time but have a lot of old content there (soon to be here!). It will be interesting to see how it all falls out. What do you think? Are you an ActiveRain regular?

I noticed the Active Rain link under the Advice tab on Trulia a couple of weeks ago and thought the next step would be making the relationship "official". Thank you for sharing the link. I'm wondering the the Trulia Blog will survive this newly announced change. .

It is interesting to think about how the integration will work - blog-wise, voices-wise, etc.

I think it's a good thing and hope that ActiveRain may be able to teach Trulia how to effectively block out all the Spam that's been so prolific here of late in the Advice area. It's not only annoying but reflects extremely poorly on Trulia as a website.

Amen to that Larry!

I'm fine with it and think Trulia can use some fresh content to attract a larger buyer/ seller pool for us especially since active listing inventory is lower than usual. The consumers need a reason to keep coming back.

Funny, the drop down menu has Active Rain Blog and Blog separately. Will they merge?

And how will "points" work or whatever they're called here on Trulia I wonder.

i don't know, I just keep thinking about a fan.

Will the outcome be equally distributed?

I, too, have been consistently posting my blogs to both sites. Definitely interested to see where we go from here.

Does activerain still get a good amount of traffic?

amazing - it's almost noon on the east coast and already the first 2 pages of the Q&A section are filled with spam............trulia really dropped the ball on this part of the site..........wonder what the "big" plan is moving forward

Debbie I wrote my daily blog on Active Rain this morning about it. Most AR people have not been here and do not know what really happens. I fear for what AR will become.
Flag Wed Apr 9, 2014
I hear ya - Debbie! I think it's ominous that they're letting things go like they are.

I'm an Active Rain regular. Actually I'm an ambassador for the site.

It's going to be very interesting to see how this unfolds and if it has an effect on our business. I'm all about change and do believe they know what they're doing.

Hope it's so!! I'm sure there will be lots more changes coming down the pike.

If this merger is executed well it will be good for everyone.

Thanks for the link Elizabeth!

I am not an active AR poster, although I used to post there a few years ago but was kind of turned off by all the "atta boys", "fabulous blog", etc comments every blog seemed to get................guess my old blogs will be carried over here with everyone else's.

Should be interesting.

Well, now I know where their engineers have been working/concentrating, and why the Q&A section here has seemingly been ignored, and is still overrun with spam!

So the "marriage" takes place tomorrow?

Wonder if they registered at Bloomingdales or Bed, Bath and Beyond!

Hi Elizabeth I think this move will give the AR community more exposure to consumer,s and Trulia will have more consumer information to share.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I have been partial to Trulia. I do however see some of the same agents on both sites.

I post most of my blogs on Trulia and AR. Don't see why they will continue with both these brands going forward, unless it's to generate revenue from agents on each. AR remains a great place to exchange ideas within the industry, but has never generated any customer leads for me. I'll be dropping AR.

I've posted only a few blog posts to Trulia but had fun on AR for several years. The interface has changed in a lot of ways that I don't like so it's not nearly as much fun when I pop in. I did get a listing from AR and still get calls re posts - even though I didn't do a heck of a lot of meant-for-consumer posts and instead kept them on my own site.
