Any info out there for the NC real estate exam STATE section only?

Asked by Hannah Morris, Charlotte, NC Tue Aug 28, 2012

I just took this test a couple weeks ago and passed the national but did not pass the state. I can't seem to find any information on the state section only- To figure out what exactly I need to study... The Commission gives a "study guide" but it's mainly the License Law, Commission Rules, Agency Law and closing statements. I feel there is more I'll be tested on but this is all I have to go by... any help?

I'm licensed in Texas, but wonder if my same efforts would apply in NC - I took a million online practice exams before I took the real thing. Well, maybe not a million, but I think the package I took had about 90 practice exams and I took them all. I found that every question on the real tests were on the practice exams.

Good luck with your next try - I'm sure you'll ace it!

How can I do those online practice exams?

Good afternoon, Hannah:
The North Carolina Real Estate Manual, published by the Real Estate Commission, is a
comprehensive reference addressing real estate law and brokerage practice, the North Carolina
Real Estate License Law and Commission rules. Being thoroughly familiar with this manual is the best preparation not only for the test, but for practice. The closing statement is also very important. If you appreciate an answer, please give thumbs up. You could also take/retake a state license course refresher. For the most helpful answer, please say thanks with a best answer click.

I read your answer to Hannah and I only have one question.
when you take a 75 hr realestate course to prepare you for you license exam, do they actually teach you everything in the 1,021 pages of the real estate manual or just some chapters?

I would also recommend getting the Question/Answer CD. It helped me tremendously. You need to commit a lot of data to memory to pass the NC Exam and the CD will help you do just that! Good Luck Hannah - you can do it! Kathleen

Which CD are you speaking of Kathleen? Could you tell me where i can get it from?

Thank you.

First, congratulations for passing the national test! That was one of the hardest things I've ever done! What they've given you is true. What I learned about the NC test was that it was broad but not very deep. I studied to find out the DIFFERENCES in NC law and national law. That made it a lot easier. Other than that - a lot of the questions were the same as the national test. The trick was recognizing when the question was one of those NC only questions. If you know the national stuff you're in good shape - learn what's different then test again. I hope this helps.

Hello Hannah, Can you share your experience after retaking the exam? Did you purchase the CD and where did you purchase it from?

Thank you

Hannah - I agree that the NC Exam Guide CD is very helpful in studying for the state portion of the exam. Superior School of Real Estate offers an exam boot camp course taught by Bill Gallagher; however we just completed the course and don't have another one scheduled at this time so that isn't going to be of immediate help to you. We will have an online version of boot camp in a month or so. If you need immediate help, I would recommend:

NC Exam Guide CD
Hiking the Real Estate Trail (Audio CD's)
Thoroughly review the state section problem topics posted at http://www.superiorschoolnc.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/N…

Also, some of our instructors offer tutoring. Let me know if I can help and good luck!

Did you use the Exam Guide CD to help you study? It's extremely helpful, with practice questions, quizzes, build your own tests, etc. It does a good job explaining each answer as well.

What is this cd and where can I get one? I am trying to take the state portion as well and not sure where I can get any study info. There is no material on only the state portion. Bill Gallagher does offer a study session but it is also $300. Unfortunately, I cannot afford that. Please tell me this is not my only option.

Where can I get this cd? I am also licensed in FL and looking to take only the state portion of exam. It is next to impossible to find any material for just the state. What is this cd and where can I get one?

Ryan, can you please tell me where I can buy this Exam Guide CD? I see there are quite a few audio CD's on the market and I just want to make sure I choose the most relevant and helpful CD for the NC test. Thanks!
