You may find it informative to review the SEO tutorial provided by our friends at google. It's online with free access. On approximately page 27 the tutorial discusses a pattern referred to as 'banner blindness,' the result of overbearing advertising and the consumers ability to tune it out. Banner ads specificly and PPC ads in general gernerate less that a 2% clickthrough for low quality leads.

80% of all click throughs, the tutorial states, comes from the first four positions on the search page. The 'caffine' changes google has implemented (6/2010) changes this game significantly. Since all of those reading this are obviously engaged in social media, perhaps we already know about these changes and will bypass the costly price of educating ourselves on what will not work.

I tried a banner ad over a year ago. What a waste of my money.

What they do not tell you is that you cannont define the market area you want. I was getting calls for properties 5 counties away from where I work out of.

Not for me.

Hi Eric. Last year a guy named Omar quoted me $12,000 for a banner ad. He started to give me all sorts of stats for hits, views, traffic etc.

I offered him $120 based on previous ROI with them. They are simply the worst. There are sites out there that charge -0- that I've written million$ of dollar$ worth of biz from.....no kidding.

GOOD LUCK!

I looked into the ads but remember deciding it's just not worth it. I'd love to hear the answer to this question as well.

Terrible waste of money--I am trying to get out of a banner ad right now. I think more people should speak up about this. They are just taking peoples money and providing nothing in return.

Thank you for your responses.
I've had the banner ad for about 6 months & traffic has been very poor.
