How well do you know yourself and personality? When you know your strengths, you can utilize them to you best advantage as an agent. Always continue to educate yourself, and be willing to learn. Ask questions from successful agents. Your attitude determines your altitude! The 3 "L's" are very important: Leads, Listings and Leverage. I could go on and on, but most important--Don't give up! Real Estate Agents have ups and downs, but I don't give up--

First thing is to find the right firm in my view. And you don't want the firm with the most agents or the largest advertising campaign, you want one with someone great who is willing to mentor you and bring you along in the business.

1. Take classes and get as much education as you can.
2. Realize that this is your business and nothing comes easy.
3. Hang around with successful people and agents in your office. You will learn from them.
4. Don't be a secret agent. Make sure everyone knows what you do, without harassing them.
5. Treat this like a business and control your time. Don't get distracted by things that take you away from your focus.

Feel free to give us a call. We know some great agents out there who can help you get started.

I believe the first thing you need to do is realize the fact you are self employed. It is a big mind set difference. You need to train your brain to think in the concept of self employed , spending money on marketing and resources with the expectation of getting paid latter. Many new agents think of the broker like an employer, but they are not an employer, they are your client, in some form or another you pay them for services. Don't be afraid to waste time , people skills are hard to develop and if you don't go out and show property and talk to people you never will.

Get some good training. Start with one of the big names like Keller Williams, Prudential, Coldwell Banker, or Century 21.

Passing the exam has nothing to do with the practice of real estate. Go to classes, get yourself a mentor, and start implementing the idea they give you.

Good luck.

A positive mental attitude is key! Being certain of your success, even if you aren't 100% sure how you will make that happen... just believe and be certain you will NOT fail.. and you won't :)

Decide if you want to be a list agent or buyer’s agent and then find out who is the top agent in your market for the niche and invite them to lunch. Explain that you are new; you hear they are #1, and ask if they would give you advice on what to do.
