It's definitely worth it but in reality you make your own success. If you are not implementing what you learn as well as not looking for new ways to get buyers and sellers then your not going to see any changes in your business.

Are you referring to required CE courses for our license or??? If you are I have to say they are important for the obvious reason but don't really contribute toward building my business.

Only after the designated hard work that comes with the experience and knowledge.

Hi David,

I'm curious as to what type of Designated courses! And when you say local board - you are not speaking of NAR courses correct? Those two inquiries by me only help to answer what type of new and/or specialized knowledge you may now have over other and essentially competing business and agents in your area. Sure you you benefit from the knowledge and resources (and even networking) provided by your initiative and investment of time and money - but in order to convert that into increased ROI, you have to market this new found knowledge!

Who is going to know that you now have expert knowledge in Green properties or can advise on Short Sales unless you tell them? Increased traffic won't just stop by your door as if you now have a magical beacon that will draw them to you!

The answer is who do you tell and how do you tell them? Let's just say you took a Green class. Well who is the market for that type of property? Or who would even want to seek out your knowledge in that arena. Now where you find these conscientious progressive types? And how will you reach them and continue communication with them?

So to my questions you say, huh? Okay, here are some suggestions to those questions via more questions! Let's still go with the GREEN...

Is there a Green logo that you now get to use that you can add to your marketing material (incl electronic marketing material.)
Uhmmm, can you just add the word GREEN in green letters - they will ask what it means or you can just simply tell them when you point it out!
Is there a a place where you can sit and just have an informal discussion on Green homes - a cafe preferably located near a university campus, start-up or share space community, a Whole Foods store?

Okay, if not at first, I'm sure you get the idea by now. If you'd like to discuss your particular designations and how to market them AND how to begin tracking your ROI, please feel free to contact me. Keep up the seeking of extended learning. The more you know, the more you grow! I just made that up btw!

Best of Luck,
Jaymes

It does help but in the end it all depends how you spread yourself. it's mostly network than anything else in this business.

Traffic and listings result from 3 sources: marketing, word of mouth, and referrals.
Accolades are for the lame.

Professional designations not only signify additional education, specialty and acquired skill sets but demonstrate a REALTOR'S initiative to stay abreast of the latest tools, trends and information available.

A worthy analogy ... Who would you hire to do your taxes; an accountant or a CPA?

On-going education is great because it allows you to expand you knowledge base and can give you new ways to do business (ex. EPro). As you achieve each designation it will give you the opportunity to send our cards to your SOI to announce your achievements. You also can release your designations to the newspaper as a press release to increase your visibility which will help your business.

On-going education should always be a part of your business no matter how many years of business experience you have. There is always something new to learn and each experience provides a new opportunity.
