Homes under 100k with some lot size for a garden can be found near the Strip. But many questions follow once that statement is answered.
The first question becomes, how close do you need to be to the Strip? If you go 3 miles out (about a 10 minute drive), you got about 60 available homes.
The second question would be; what kind of amenities are you looking for a neighborhood to offer you? Fair Housing Laws prevent agents from "Steering" buyers to and away from certain areas of town. Don’t be surprised to find some agents reluctant to tell you what areas are good and which ones are not. The ones that do, I would question their ethics in other areas of how they conduct their business.
You may have to do your own homework when it comes to finding a comfortable neighborhood for your lifestyle. You may want to determine academic performance of local schools at http://www.ccsd.net . Use the Crime view mapper with Metro to look up recent police reports in the area http://www.lvmpd.com/crimeviewcommunity. Programs like the Home Buyers Scouting Report (www.homebuyerscoutlv.com) give you driving directions to drive by the homes so you can see what the neighborhood is like. Use a birds eye view in this and other mapping programs to see how the neighbors take care of the neighborhood.
How big of a lot do you need to make the garden you need? I used Townhomes as well as Single Family homes in order to get the 60 results. Townhomes can add monthly association fees to your overall budget for a home.
More questions can build from there. If there is anything my team can do to help you answer questions that arise in your home search, we would be happy to assist.
