I understand your feelings, and I would ask too. We know the answer if you don't ask is no, but if you do ask there is a chance that out of public relations or kindness they may say yes.
On the other hand, if the prices went up for everyone, would you allow the builder to ask you to make up the difference between what you paid and what others will have to? What other incentives, did you work into your deal?
Perhaps you negotiated a good package before the A/C and so they had to charge you for it.

As it is a ranch home, In MLS we show the sqft as 'Above sqft' ie the sqft from the ground up. Then the basement sqft is added in and finished sqft. I checked public records, and this is how your house is shown with 2440 above and the rest is in the basement.... more
