If you don't have a friend for family member that can recommend one, go to some open houses, get a feel for the realtor showing the home, find a few on line that have a bio that sounds like you would work well together, interview several and then pick one to move forward with. One of the problems could be the price you are asking. Is your home over-priced? Another important consideration in selling during the current Buyer's Market is to make sure your home is absolutely move-in ready. Buyers want to Close on Friday, move-in over the weekend, and go back to work on Monday. Very few Buyers want to fix or upgrade anything in a home today.... more
These days, many people are doing their own research on the internet ~ so finding someone "right around the corner" isn't as important as finding someone who's truly knowledgeable about the real estate market, trends in the area, and how to market a property. the size of the company doesn't matter nearly as much as the commitment your particular agent is willing to make to sell your house, and to help you find a new home. I'd recommend personal referrals over big name companies...ask your friends who they used and if they were happy ~ and if they were ~ give the person they used a call!
