If you own a single family home you should have standard hazard insurance that would cover your house and belongings in case of a covered loss as well as liability coverage and medical payments ( in case someone slips and falls on your property and sues you). In addition to that, depending on the location of your property you might want to get flood insurance from FEMA, if you're in a flood zone. Normal hazard policies do not cover any water damage in case of a flood ( it covers water falling down, but not water flowing through the ground).
That would be the only thing you need in a standard case scenario.
