Be very careful with auctions. Make sure you understand what fees will be charged to you (sometimes a buyer's premium and all settlement costs) and what type of deed you will be given at the time of settlement. Also, I've never been a fan of purchasing a home sight unseen. I'd recommend that you only consider bidding on a property that you have physically toured as well on which you have done your "due diligence."
Go to auction websites like auction.com and read EVERY bit of helpful information they provide. They have a "help" section that can walk you through some basics of bidding on and buying auction properties.
