The usual commision is between 3-5%.There are brokers that will steeply discount their commision, but they cannot possibly give you the adequate service to obtain the highest selling price for your house. The phrase "you get what you pay for" is appropiate for this kind of broker.

There are usually two components to commissions on most sales: the listing agent commission and the selling agent commission. The listing agent commission is the amount the listing agent and company receive for performing various tasks and establishing and implementing the marketing strategy for the property. The selling agent is the agent that actually brings about the sale of the property by introducing a client or customer to the property and causes negotiations to begin. There are now several "limited service" brokers that pass themselves off as "discount" brokers. The word "discount" implies a similar level of service for less money. Most sellers (before the sale) do not understand and/or properly perceive or appreciate the value they receive from a good listing agent or company. In this market, the words "you get what you pay for" are more fitting than ever. If you're considering interviewing agents, please feel free to contact me.
