You may want to ask that question in Riverton NJ as opposed to Fort Myers so that experts in the area can weigh in on your question. Good luck, let me know if I can help you.

No home is typically sold in complete like that. However if an interested party came in and saw that there was no kitchen and no bath installed at the time, he or she might want to put their own mark on it by finishing it themselves. It couldn't hurt to ask the seller if it would be possible to purchase it as is; it might be a good negotiating tool for your offer.
Not a good idea to put work in yourself, for an HDFC apartment. Let them finish the apartment.
I think what they are referring to is the capital gain on your primary residence of two years. And yes, this is true to my knowledge. I'm just a REALTOR so I will always cover myself with "talk to your accountant". But I know you have to have it as your primary residence for at least 2 years to qualify. The amount doubles to 500k if you are married. But again, confirm everything with an accountant before making a decision that has $1,000s in the balance!
