Best method is to contact Domestic Violence Dept. or Housing Dept. for your town or city and they are the people to help you find a place to live. Beware all private owners have the ability to do credit and background checks on a computer.
However, if you go thru the Domestic Violence for your area, they can get you a place to live under their name so your name does not show up in a search.
Also, if you are employed, please notify your supervisor. There have been incidents in the past where the abusers show up at work and injure you or other employees. You should also alert the local police.... more

If you go to a complex that uses a scoring system past rental history does not seem to count for a lot.
