A great resource for assessing local crime activity is the Automated Regional Justice Information System at http://www.arjis.org is a great resource for investigating the types and levels of crime in a particular area. The San Diego Police Department first suggested I use the site when I was inquiring about possible crime in a particular beach neighborhood one of my clients was interested in. You will be able to look at broad statistics by area using http://crimestats.arjis.org.
The mapping tool at http://www.crimemapping.com allows you to be a specific in your inquiry as to type in a street address, and lets you look at crime within, for example, up to a 2 mile radius around the address if you'd like. You are able to ascertain the types of crime (e.g. theft, drug and alcohol violations, burglary), and you can search within a range of dates (e.g. within the last month or year).... more
Easy question...the reason Del Mar has a higher crime rate is due directly to the fact all crimes which take place at the Del Mar Race Track but mostly the Fair get reported under Del Mar Crime stats....... more
