I don't believe that it is a high crime area. I have been in many of the units are they are very nice. In addition, they have an outdoor pool over there, which is a great amenity on a hot summer day. I think it is a nice place to live. I would recommend, when choosing any neighborhood, that you contact the local police department, and ask them about the number of calls they have had in the last year and what the nature of the calls were in that specific neighborhood.... more

If you can afford the houses you are looking at, step up to the plate and offer the asking price, or something near asking. If you can't afford it, stop wasting the time of the agent, and stay where you are.

It seems that you are a first time buyer. That may save you some money at the mortgage company. But your question is one that you need to deal with privately--and not ask the real estate community. The lower you go, the more you will insult the seller.
