Bayview condos do not usually have w/d in the unit. However there are some that do. I think it may be questionable whether or not these installations were approved but some are there nevertheless. The complex is on both sides of Shore Dr at 330 and at 329.
In addition there are community laundry rooms... I believe there's one in each building. I've sold several units in Bayview over the years and can tell you that it's a popular complex as it is within walking distance to the NYC ferry, has it's own bay beach (the owners have even set up a little Tiki bar for their summer enjoyment) and it allows for boat moorings. Some have excellent water views as well.
The complex is a quick bike ride to Sandy Hook and the Bayside Trail which connects with Atlantic Highlands along the waterfront. Add the great dining in Highlands and you can see why it's a popular spot.

The flooding is pretty bad in the low area of Highlands. If you buy you in town you need to monitor the storms and move your vehicle on to shore drive (or higher). It's a great town to live in, but flooding is an issue. See the link below for a video of the flooding.... more
No it should not be a deal breaker - IF the seller is willing to mitigate. I discuss radon with my NJ buyers very early on in the process - like wood destroying insects - you look at homes in hilly, rocky area with trees - we are likely to encounter these things. Deal breaks - heck no, but they do require the right resources to test and treat/mitigate.

Hi there, there is a gauge on a radon remediation system that allows you to moniter the functionality of the system. In many areas of NJ radon is a fact of life. If levels are found to be elevated, then it is expected that the seller will remediate and a retesting is part of that to be sure that the level is acceptable. As far as going to 0 - that is unlikely, but I have seen it come close. Remember this, if you have a radon in the area, you have it in the air outdoors as well. Keep it in perspective.

Also check out http://www.city-data.com to see what information they have and compare it to the area you live in now to get a feel for whether its going to be better or worse. And you may want to google questions like yours to find out more information on this. Realtors are afraid to answer questions like this with direct answers because they think it violates some law or code of ethics so they will just beat it around the bush leaving you on your own to discover if its a good or bad area unfortunatly.... more

It's true, Highlands has some hilly terrain but generally speaking snow & ice removal is handled quickly and has not posed a major problem for most residents.
I live on Portland Road and as Deborah said, it is the main connecting road to the upper, hill area. Portland, along with several roads which are county or state roads are monitored & addressed throughout any storm. Bay Avenue and Shore Drive, both main thoroughfares thru the lower part of town, and Linden Ave and Miller Street which provide access from lower Highlands up to the highway, are cleared and managed as well.
I would say that there are certain roads, side streets, that may not receive quite the same treatment although sometimes this is a function of cars parked on the street and the plow may not have the same access or place to deposit the accumulated snow.
Four-wheel drive is not a bad feature to have but I'm not sure that it would be required. If you have a specific street in mind please let me know and I'll find out more for you.
The popular strategy that many HOAs are now pursuing is not foreclosure--since such liens are subordinate to a mortgage, they have little hope of collecting in the case of foreclosure.
