This school is definitely a cut above the public schools. It has an excellent, and extremely challenging academic agenda. All kids take two or three foreign languages, music, art, computers, PE several days a week, classics, etc. on top of their hard core science, math, English, and social studies.

They have so many special topic teacher beyond their home room teachers that even the little ones learn to learn from many people, each with their own teaching style. As another reviewer mentioned, the school is constantly fundraising in an attempt to keep tuition low and affordable (around $5500/year), less than what you would pay for daycare in the area. The quality of the academic programs continues to improve, as well as communication between the school and parents. Increasing efforts by faculty and staff to build the CDS community through new extracurricular activities and programs are enhancing our daughter's learning experience and she will return next year. A friend attended this school and endured the typical mindset that is found in public schools. 'Parental involvement' and 'student accountability' are the catch phrases. In other words, if your child doesn't excel here - don't blame the school . . . Worse still, the tuition is comparitively low but

If your thinking about sending your child here, your money would be better spent hiring a tutor and using public school resources. Just like public schools, the report cards issued to the students accurately reflect the overall performance of the school and the individual teacher. If the teachers at CDS weren't satisfied until all ten of their students were making A's, then CDS would be a great school. Until then, think twice before spending the money, time and more money.
