Salam School is a good school. They try to instill morality and Islamic values in children. The teachers work hard to make sure every child learns. My children all go/went to Salam School. No matter what, an Islamic School is invaluable.

I hope that any of Salam School teachers or principles read my review and start to make a change . Read less

I don t know from where to start. I have been working for Salam School for three years as a teacher assistant. I started as a volunteer till I got hired by the summer of 2008. By the end of this semester , I finally figured out that it was a wrong decision to work in such a school. All the negatives
... Read more that made me left my country and came to USA were there in Salam School. Some teachers are nice but most of them are not. When you walk in the hall way, you rarely see somebody smiles at your face! If you are healthy and working hard with them ,you are so welcome, if you get sick and need to rest for couple of days, nobody wants you and no body even wishes you a speedy recovery or call you to say how are you. If you have any new ideas and you want to share it,no body listens to you or pays you attention. It is a very bossy weather with no love .A kind of what you find in the middle east work .That is in additional to the Too much discipline weather that the students are suffering from. I can write tens and tens of pages about the negatives that I saw in this community during the last three years if there is an enough space. For who ever still working there and read this review, I m sure that you are suffering from the same things that I suffered from. If you think that it is the time to stand up and make a change, then I wish you can change what I failed to change. Read less

We are so fortunate to have an established and growing / improving year by year school that not only offers regular curriculum that public and other private schools provide, but a solid Islamic value system that teachers and administration strive to weave into every subject, as well as Islamic history,
... Read more Arabic /Quran studies. The school expanded this year to extend to the high school level and also has a new elementary school site, which provides much-needed room for growth as the muslim community in Milwaukee grows. I am surprised to see some pretty negative reviews for Salam school. Those parents seem to be mostly concerned about their children's performance / skills in certain subjects such as math, science, reading and English and state that after transferring to a different school their children were evaluated below their expected grade level. These parents conclude that the teachers / administrators are not as skilled/experienced or nurturing/ encouraging as those in public or other private schools. I would like to disagree. First, Salam school teachers are selected not just based on their religion but rather on their skills /education/ experience evaluation. All of the teachers are required to have a Wisconsin teaching license. There are many non-muslim teachers at both the elementary and the middle/high school level. Most teachers have excellent credentials and over 10 years of experience teaching in Islamic schools and beyond. Also, i believe that student skill/performance level in a particular subject is never a sole responsibility of a teacher - parents really ought to take greater interest in their children's education. School offers a rigorous curriculum as it has to accommodate for the Quran recitation and Arabic classes at every grade level, as well as the daily Zuhr prayer for the students grade 2 and above in addition to the common subjects taught at every other school. But of course there is always room for improvement - you may find it difficult to arrange for transportation to and from school as there is no busing service, and you may have some specific issues with your child's teacher - as you may have at any other school. Ultimately it all boils down to what do you value the most in your child's education - is it purely the performance / skill level in math, science or English? (then perhaps you need to select a school based on the best score levels and low ESL student enrollment, or perhaps even home-school, if you think you have what it takes) - is it Islamic education/ values? (you may choose to home-school your children and send them for Quran recitation / memorization) - is it the combination, do you want basic curriculum taught in an Islamic environment so that you don't have to worry about what goes on beyond the math and reading and at the same time know that your child will be able to compete for the College scholarship when the time comes? (then i would recommend the Salam school as right now there is no competition that provides this type of education in Milwaukee area.) Read less
