Posted by a student on 10/31/2023I think that Summit is an okay place to be at. It's not the end of the world, but I find it boring. When the student is finished with the work assigned in class, they are supposed to "Self-direct" to create better skills of independence. I think this is a good idea, but when you're finished and up-to-date on the platform, there is little to nothing teachers can do to support you. When they do try and support you, they offer more online classes from different areas of the internet which you barely understand or find boring after a few weeks. The one thing I appreciate in Summit is the expedition's varieties. From online college lectures, mural painting, and google IT support, the variety of expeditions (or long electives,) is anything but limited. But, the classes are too long. There are only two core classes a day (plus two others; a self-direction class and a homeroom), and when the first one is over, you're wiped out and ready for lunch(the first core class period from 930-1120). In the end, it's an alright school that needs improving.
Posted by a student on 1/11/2023I love this school a lot, we get so much support and the teachers are endlessly caring and helpful. We do fun things so it’s not all just work. But I really do love it here at Summit. I do not have a single bad thing to say about it.
Posted by a parent on 12/12/2022I kind of recommend but its really hard to relate to people that go to the school
Posted by a student on 9/12/2022I cannot stress highly enough what a great school Summit Atlas has been for my son. Every teacher knows every student, the kids get individual attention, the school teaches the kids how to set their own learning goals and achieve them, which sets them up for college success and career success down the road, and every kids has a mentor that they stay with for three years. They have their first class with their mentor and "pod" of students every day. Their mentor helps make sure they are on track or get additional assistance if needed, and they tackle social/emotional learning all together in their pod. My child is never overwhelmed by the workload, and rarely has to take work home with him - it is set up so he can complete it during his school day. This is the school I always hoped for my children to have!

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageArbor Heights Elementary is a great! school!! As a parent volunteer and part time staff member, I was able to get special insight on how this school is operated. The teachers, staff, and students are absolutely exceptional! The building is very new and interior design is well thought out. The teachers are passionate about helping students and the kids are encouraged to problem solve but bullying is not tolerated. Therefore, students are generally respectful toward each other. The office staff members especially Tracy & Karen are the kindest people you could possibly hope for! We love Arbor Heights!Parent Review5mo ago - Highland Park Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAll my kids came through Highland Park, and we have a few more years to go. We have seen several principals, and the current administration (2023/2024) is just phenomenal, supportive of staff and families. The school feels like a community, the teachers are all amazingly engaged and care about their students. There is a strong social and emotional learning element. The PTA is engaged and hold several fun events throughout the year for student enrichment. I agree that the low test scores are due to the high percentage of second language learners at the school, my kids all did very well there academically. This school deserves a higher score on Great Schools, but since that’s not how it works I hope that any parents in the neighborhood that are curious come and see for themselves what it feels like to be in the building. No score can tell you that.Parent Review2mo ago - Roxhill Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy chid has endured mental anguish at the hands of not one, but two teachers at this school. When I've tried to raise the issue, I am told to work it out directly with the teacher. One teacher in particular often keeps the children in from recess as a punishment for unfinished work or for not conforming to responsibilities of the classroom. These are children of a certain technological age who have a much shorter attention span and are consuming information at a greater speed than other generations. Some grace, patience and empowerment goes a long way with them. Punishment by taking away a brain break does not help them do better.Parent Review1mo ago - White Center Heights Elementary
