The new reading curriculum adoption for the 2007-2008 school year should help address the Kindergarten curriculum problem. Great WASL Test Score. Consistenty above state and district averages. Strong sense of community.

My daughter attended St. Joseph's for two years of montessori and then for kindergarten. While I would fall over myself recommending the montessori I am sad to say that she will not be returning for 1st grade. As noted by another parent below, I was extremely impressed with the advanced concepts introduced
... Read more in the preschool program. However, upon entrance to kindergarten we were told that they 'teach to the bottom of the class.' Always advanced, she began to lag behind our friends' children in public school. By the end of the year they had just started to cover some of the topics and skills she had already learned in preschool. We have spent all summer trying to get her ready for 1st grade. Overall, I would say the montessori is a great investment in your child's future but beyond that the school is a waste of money. Read less

A wonderful new pricipal began working at St. Joseph's Fall 2007. What a blessing to the school. She has more than 20 years experience from the public sector and is very well respected. My daughter attends the Montessori preschool there and I can't say enough good things about it. The teachers are caring

My 5 year old son is currently enrolled in the Montessori pre-school and has already learned the mathematical concepts of simple division and simple fractions. These are concepts that are not normally introduced until 2nd or 3rd grade, so I will be reinforcing these until that time with tools that were
... Read more recommended for home use by his current teacher. He also provides new science insights to which he has been exposed on about a weekly basis. This week's observation pertains to the different kinds of clouds. He is also eagerly monitoring the incubation and hatch of several chicken eggs as part of another class project. I am also impressed with the close knit community offered at St. Joseph's. The staff is very friendly and cares about my son's well being. Poor leadership and vision by the administration and constant turnover in this department. Good and challenging academics, strong discipline, strong values. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
