... Read more and all parents are invited. There are may activities that monthly for all to participate in. The music department has Chorus and Percussion clubs. The Art department has a Art club held weekly as well. The security is not 'Ft. Knox' like but we do require ID to visit a room and to sign a chold out (county policy) which are always a good idea. We love Moncure so much that I just requested a waiver for my youngest to start Kindergarten there next year as we moved to a different school district. This school ROCKS!! Read less

My two boys went to Moncure last year before we moved to Hawaii. I was impressed with the teachers they had. One of my boys was in Mrs. Rodriguez's class. She was great! The other was in Miss Burdette's Class. Last year was her first year teaching but by the end of the year she was probably as seasoned

This school is great! The entire staff at Moncure is helpful and caring. The principal and assistant principal are very involved in student activities and know each student personally. The school and its PTO have many opportunities for parents to be involved and to motivate students. The teachers

this school made it very easy for my kindergartener to swich into from a north Carolina elementary school. The teachers are knowledgeable and very helpful and are very excited about what they do with the children. We love the p.t.o. Activities and how they show interest in each child.

I am very pleased with Moncure Elementary. The principal or vice principal is out every morning greeting kids and are both very approachable and quick to help when you ask. Moncure has a caring and dedicated staff. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved, the art room always welcomes volunteers, our PTO is also very involved with almost weekly opportunities for parents to participate in school enrichment. We offer both a chorus and a percussion ensemble
... Read more for students to be involved in the music program beyond thier scheduled music time. Disrespect toward adults or other students is not tolerated. Most teachers frequently contact parents with positive information not only keeping them aware of any concerns. We take great pride in our students, we have a title one school that out preforms some more affluent schools. In the 06-07 year Moncure passed AYP (the federal standards to acredit schools) this can not be said for several other nearby schools. Read less

My child attended this school for half of a school year. There seemed to be a decent amount of work, but my child frequently did not feel challenged, or motivated. Moncure is a good school if you have an average joe kind of kid who can do without recess and without the needed benifit of getting a high quality education. My kids have both regressed in the year and a half of being at this school. And SOL's are a joke. the whole point is to learn the material during

I had 4 children who attended this school and actually have 2 children with learning disabilities, for my oldest her teacher helped us get her the help she needed and she recieved her IEP (shes now in college) my 2nd son is now in spotsy and trust me I wish we were at Moncure. I volunteered in the Art
... Read more room, was a lunchroom hostess, volunteered in all 4 of my childrens classrooms and never had any problems. Sometimes you just need to keep asking and maybe not your childs teacher but elsewhere in the school. My youngest is now only in 4th grade although she is an A student we are in Spotsy now and I miss Moncure a lot! Read less

Advanced Placement
