Our daughter's transition to first grade at Loudoun Country Day School (LCDS) followed four successful years in a Montessori School. An avid reader with a passion for learning, we searched for a school that would nurture her social and educational development and treat her as an individual learner.
... Read more To say we have been pleased would be a gross understatement. Every aspect of education at LCDS is planned for by educators who clearly have a love for teaching. Learning is reinforced with hands-on experiences or field trips, encouraging the application of classroom principles to the real world. Thoughtful discussions among students at every age, older students mentoring younger students, school hallways decorated with student art, tons of school spirit, small class sizes, a whole lot of heart...this is a school where kids are encouraged to become active members of our community and learn to feel proud of the people they are. We first visited LCDS on Veteran s Day and the school was impressively immersed in that day s meaning. Each year students perform patriotic songs, create patriotic artwork, and raise funds for the USO. Fifth graders memorize and recite the Gettysburg Address and veterans share their experiences. This
... Read more is one example of the integrated and thoughtful learning happening at LCDS. We enrolled our children in pre-kindergarten for the class size, challenging curriculum and foreign language program. My children, though twins, have different interests and strengths. The excellent teachers challenge and encourage them with wonderful learning experiences. Full-day kindergarten includes math, science, social studies, foreign language, computers, music, art, PE and many educational field trips. The school s mission statement mentions cultivating emotional growth and building character. These concepts truly are part of the LCDS experience. We are grateful for the kind, caring LCDS community and look forward to the new campus. Read less

This is our 5th year at LCDS, every year we question why we keep sending our only son to LCDS, and we discuss that it is time to leap to the public schools...every year we come back to LCDS. The school is not without its share of challenges. And there are some challenges that will remain, however, what
... Read more keeps us reenrolling is the mere fact that our son is happy and that he is excelling in everything he does at the school. The only thing we can give our child outside of basic needs is a good educational foundation. We feel LCDS provides that. Read less

Our son transferred to LCDS from the Loudoun public schools this year and the change was immediately dramatic. He LOVES the small classes and grades, the caring attention of his teachers, the hands-on approach to music and art, and the awesome field trips! We love knowing that the school is 'lighting

We have two sons, one just graduated from LCDS and the other is currently attending. Our eldest son was more than ready for his private high school curriculum. We couldn't have asked for more in his elementary and middle school education!

I am a parent of a 1st & 4th grader and have been with the school since 2004. Even with its growth, LCDS has maintained its small community feel. The staff has always addressed my concerns and consistently checks in to see how things are going. The school embraces my children for their unique contribution
... Read more to the school. Even though they are not necessarily the top of their class, LCDS makes them feel special in many ways. The school offers many opportunities for each child to feel that he or she is exceptional in some way - whether it be singing a solo in a concert, winning a poster contest, receiving medal at a swim meet or getting a special commendation in assembly. While the school's close knit community feel is no doubt facilitated by the smaller student body, it is also a testament to the dedication of both the staff and the parents to maintain the quality of the LCDS experience for the students. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
