I have a special needs child that the school basically ignored the whole year. When I asked for special provisions for the SOL - I was denied. The principal kept telling me I needed to allow my son to be tested so he could prove that he had learned. He failed all of his SOL tests and then we get a

My daughter started kindergarten at 4 years old because of a late birthday and is currently going into the 3rd grade and makes the principal's list on her report card and will also be entering the odessey program for the gifted. She didn't have any preschool or pre-kindergarten prior to entry. The

My husband attended Concord Elem as a child and enjoyed it then also. The new renovations are beautiful as well. The classes are great sizes, not too large, so each child gets individual attention. They also show support for the community in allowing the fire dept and rescue squads come in once a year to teach fire safety and prevention, which is also critical. I am a proud parent of a Concord Elem student!!! Read less

I have children that have attended Concord from kindergarten thru 5th grade. Most of the teachers are great. They do not have a great special ed program and when we had to transfer our children to another school because we moved I noticed they were extremely behind the rest of the children at the new
... Read more school. I really enjoyed my children attending Concord but had second thoughts after they transferred out to another location. I did have a few issues with the principal that falsified information on a few occasions when I questioned him about yelling at some of the children. Other than that, I would give the school a #5 on a scale for 1-10. Most of the teachers are very friendly. I wouldn't call it the best school to choose but if you are in the area of Concord it is one of the better ones. Hope this helps! Read less

This is my Childrens first time at Concord Elementary and so far we love it. It reminds me of an old fasioned down to earth school. Everyone is really nice and very friendly. The teachers have really worked with my children. I really like that this school has a stage for the plays. The other schools

The only thing that I suggest to be a safer school is a teacher or someone should stand outside during the morning hours until school starts for the safety of the children, after all they are only Elementary kids and someone could easily snatch them up. Although I watch my kids go inside. I think it would be safer. Other than that the principal and staff are great. Read less
* In 2011-2012 Virginia used the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess students in reading, math, and history/social science in grades 3 through 8, in writing in grades 5 and 8, and in science in grades in 3, 5 and 8. The SOL tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia. Test Score Ratings
Test score ratings are based on the most recent standardized test results reported by this state. These ratings may help
you compare similar schools in this district or area. For example, a rating of 8 indicates that, on average, students in
this school scored better than 70% of the students in the state on the same tests. We have indicated below which tests
were used in calculating these ratings. Other factors should be considered when comparing schools, including teacher
experience, academic programs, extracurricular activities, resources for special needs students, etc. These ratings are
not provided by the state Department of Education, which may have their own rating systems.
