The incentive system of giving out 'cardinals' just teaches kids to be good only because someone is looking and they will get a reward, not because it is the right thing to do. I saw many times when the cardinals were just used as failed bribery attempts. With such a big class, and many students with discipline problems tying up staff members' attention, my son really failed to thrive at all at this school. We will not be returning. Read less
* In 2011-2012 Virginia used the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess students in reading, math, and history/social science in grades 3 through 8, in writing in grades 5 and 8, and in science in grades in 3, 5 and 8. The SOL tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
