i am a former student at hayfield and i have to say this is a wonderful school. there are not many fights but if they're then there are teachers everywhere. the teachers are some of the best and help you with anything that you're having trouble with. the principal Dr.Oehrlein is awesome when it comes

This is a great school. Principal Oehrlein won 'Best MS Principal in the Commonwealth of VA' for 2007-8 given by Met Life. Parent involvement is tops. Just renovated, beautiful.

I am a student at Hayfield, and I would say that the school is pretty great. The teachers give students time after school and during lunch to help them out with what they don't understand in the subject. Some of the students there sort of get too comfortable in their class and start to take advantage
... Read more of the teacher or leave class without asking. So its pretty much the students, not the teachers. They have AP classes and Honors classes for students who are up for the challenge. There are a lot of extracurricular activities for students. In 7th grade, they prepare you for 8th grade and also high school. They even help you with after high school and which jobs might interests you. They offer sports to high schoolers, and they also have chorus, band, drama, and orchestra for any grade. Read less

Much improved from a few years back with the renovations and the opening of South County SS. They did underpopulate the school a little, but more students are coming to Hayfield with a boundary change. The school is in a safe, beautiful area. It's not perfect, but much improved from a few years back

Hayfield offers a comprehensive education for those who seek it and is a good school when compared nationally. It has reputable extracurricular activities and programs. Furthermore, it is a much better school than it used to be and its gritty reputation is undeserved in current times. The student body

However, its issue lies in that the current administration does not effectively communicate with staff and does not promote school spirit or unity among staff and students, and teachers are left to fend for themselves without adequate motivation. I have three students who attend Hayfield Secondary. This is a good school if you are willing to put in the work. The couselors are not going to give you much to work with and they do, it is often incorrect. They will listen to you and let you pretty much enroll your kids in what ever class you
... Read more would like. I have never been told that a class is off limits to my average children. Sports is pretty much open to anyone that will apply. The negatives are that parents to not get involved at this school. Kids use disrespectful and agressive launguage towards each other, teachers and faculty and this is pretty much allowed. Read less

This school has been a huge dissapointment. Although the academic programs and extracurricular activities are good to a degree, the faculty and staff need to step it up a notch. On many ocassions throughout the year, no return phone calls or e-mails from staff or teachers. One of my children was out

Another child had a scheduled meeting with teachers a week in advance and his counselor could not be bothered to send for him hence,an unproductive and wasted opportunity for my child. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course.
