Read what parents are saying about St. Cecilia Catholic SchoolThe school administration often overlooks the concerns of parents. The majority of the teachers are unlicensed, yet the school remains in demand because of its affordable tuition, especially given its location. Don't waste your time and money applying.
Posted by a parent on 9/22/2023Don’t waste your time applying here, not a healthy environment for children.
Posted by a parent on 8/10/2023We’ve been here for three years now. First year okay, then covid hit. They didn’t miss a beat with online learning. Second year, everyone was happy. Third year.. kids have become miserable. Massive turnover with young teachers. Four quitting mid year. An administration that doesn’t seem to understand it’s a systemic problem nor how to contain the bleed. Academics and hard and rigorous. Very strict for any small infraction, everything is dealt with heavy hand in middle school. I am not so sure there is a good discipline policy in place, it’s whatever the teacher feels like. You will get an email or a call for even minor things. The child begins to feel beaten down. I have such mixed emotions. Place needs some changes and many families are leaving.
Posted by a parent on 1/26/2022It's meh. The learnings ok but the homework NEEDS to be lightened for Pete's sake. The school should try to implement new ways to find students who are struggling and help them.
Posted by a student on 10/24/2020The admissions process was less than stellar. The admissions director is a terrible communicator. It look her days to respond to simple email requests from a perspective parent. An overall horrible experience dealing with them!

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have to disagree with these comments regarding meeting the needs of students with disabilities. Memorial drive elementary has a team lead by a Lioness. The principal is on top of it like white on rice, she may be overwhelming at times and demands punctual attendance and makes sure every parent is being the best they can be. They have a strong team and the sped department is phenomenal. My son’s ARD meeting was done in weeks of enrollment and I saw nothing but love and passion for the students . I recommend this school and applaud them as a whole. Happy mother of first grader new to the school .Parent Review5mo ago - Woodview Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn agreement with other reviews, there has been significant teacher turnover in the early childcare program, causing concern for myself and other parents. We started the year with 3 teachers and now have only 1 left from the original grouping. Continuity is so important for early childhood but this doesn’t seem to be an stressor for the administration. Additionally, my child’s classroom has ballooned in size, beyond state recommendations for ratios. Currently there are 13 toddlers from14-18 months in a classroom with 3 teachers, just seems unsustainable. Not to mention that perhaps overcrowding toddler classrooms could be leading to high teacher turnover..Are they feeling overwhelmed, stressed? Certainly hasn’t been the small, nurturing program that we signed up for and one certainly not reflective of the higher price tag compared to other EC programs in the area.Parent Review1mo ago - St. Francis Episcopal School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe started at St. Francis 10 years ago. It's not remotely the same school.now. We had two generations of family that had attended and we no longer are affiliated with the school in anyway. When we started, the head of school was highly qualified with a doctorate and extensive experience in all areas of education. She was respected by the community and the school as an expert. Faculty were experts in their fields coming from other private schools with high levels of education and experience. Teacher retention was amazing with few leaving each year, mostly for moves, retirements or promotions. Administration was stable for more than 10 years in each division. Her sudden and disruptive replacement, and the start of a high school has led to a significant and long term decline for years now. First, administration at the division levels has changed almost annually in every division with administrators that are new to the field in their first administrative placement. They then move onto other positions after using the position as a stepping stone and students as guinea pigs for bad ideas. We chose not to send our youngest to the primary school after seeing almost the entire staff of experienced educators leave in just a couple of years because of a terrible leader. Positions went unfilled or filled with inexperienced fresh out of college staff. The curriculum is now more of what I would expect at a daycare and nothing like what it was when our older children attended. Staff and student retention is at an all time low. We have not been pleased with newer staff, especially those in administrative positions. Qualifications and knowledge are severely lacking. Most new teachers are just those that didn't want to remain in public school. We have moved to new school that is not experiencing these issues. We gave it so many years to change, but it continued to decline even after the much needed departure of the head of school that started the massive decline. We concluded that issues must stem from the board, as heads of school have changed and division heads at every level have changed multiple times, but problems remain. We also didn't feel they were doing much, if anything to address the extreme issues, but instead were shifting focus and ignoring issues. The school community changed completely. It was heartbreaking to see a school we once loved change so much. We were so hopeful that things would turn around, but have not seen any improvementParent Review3mo ago - Ilm Academy
