Anderson Private School For The Gifted & Talented

Our daughter is very excited to return to The Anderson School, in September for her third year! I just read a review, here, which led me to musing about the core values of this school: modeling for children a joy for learning; quickly assessing their strengths and challenges; requiring respectful and honest communication between the teachers and students as well as amongst the students themselves. I noted last year, many of the new students had this “look of dread about school” when they first came to visit. Many had not had teachers who “got them.” At the end of the year, as I sat watching every student perform in the play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” each one was beaming with an effusive sense of accomplishment! This school is truly magical in that discipline meets imagination within these walls, where confident yet humble Leaders emerge.

This was once a great school for students that needed flexibility in their academic environment as well as room to be unique. Our child did well and learned many valuable lessons at this school. New families should be cautious before committing to the expensive tuition. The school lacks structure in many vital areas but exceeded our expectations by encouraging each student to be their very best. The leadership at this school is dedicated, highly educated, and represent the ideals of what education could be. Unfortunately, it seems they are past their prime and closer to retirement without a clear plan for the next generation of leadership.

The Anderson School is nothing short of an educational masterwork. The curriculum is engaging, the setting is unique, and the shear love of knowledge held by the Anderson school's staff is something one cannot experience anywhere else. True education occurs from a place a passion, and the passion that the Anderson School instills in its students and faculty truly sets it apart. There are no two people more engrossed in pedagogical discourse than the Andersons, and their devotion to honing their educational practice is evident in every facet of the school and its curriculum. At the Anderson school, students are treated with respect; instead of mandating a one-size-fits-all lesson plan, they ask, "what would you like to learn today?" Through this pedagogical model, students that are the age of contemporary elementary school students are studying Greek Philosophy, Theoretical and practical Physics, Calculus, Chemistry, Literary Criticism and Composition, and a plethora of other subjects; a truly astounding opportunity for any student who feels unchallenged, bored or listless in a traditional classroom setting. For the highest level of educational attention, I can recommend no other institute as highly as I recommend the Anderson Private School for the Gifted and Talented.

My family is sincerely grateful that there is an Anderson School, because our lives have changed for the better since finding it!

I am a French teacher. In my later years, I tutored physics, math, French, and chemistry (subjects I taught for 35 years) at Borders Books. Four years ago I was hired at Anderson School.In my many years as a teacher, I cannot remember being in such a relaxed environment as Anderson School. The children of various ages are gifted, outgoing, and greatly encouraged to develop their talents under Dr. and Mrs. Anderson's tutelage.I can only hope and wish that all educators would take a good look at Anderson School (and themselves) to better their own teaching habits.
