I think Jefferson is an awesome school with great teachers. They are dedicted to the students and want them to be succesful. The administration and office staff knows all the children by name and treats them all kindly regardless of economic status or behavior issues. It has been rewarding to know that

Jefferson has been a great place to educate children for many years. I feel that the teacher morale is a little low and there are still some teachers there that need to improve. Change is difficult and TISD as a whole is slow to change.

Jefferson is a wonderful neighborhood school that exudes warmth and friendliness to all families. It is a racially diverse campus where children see each other as friends. It has myriad opportunities for parent involvement, and the PTO has continued to experience growth over the past 3 years. The
... Read more FOCUS program provides after-school extra-curricular activities for working parents. The Science Lab and Brain Builders programs provide stimulus for budding minds, and the Special Ed teachers are great. Character Traits are given special attention, and Star Students are recognized. My husband attended school at Jefferson, so we knew our children would go there when we moved back from Austin. We strongly support neighborhood schools - and Jefferson is one of the best! Read less

The new principal took over early last year. The school has been on a constant decline ever since. Several parents have moved their children to other schools, and even other districts. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
