TAKS are great but 7 and 8 years old should be treated like their age and not like adults. This campus offers very little extra's unless it realtes to the reading TAKS test.

I attended SFISD from pre-k through High School and now have one child attending and another who is 2. SFISD is a school sought after by those wanting to get away from others that have gang violence, drug abuse, and classes with such a large child v teacher ratio, your student can get lost. Her current teacher asked me to have her tested for ADHD- done, her pediatrician diagnosed her with ADD and prescribed her medication, which has helped. The academic program at Santa Fe was Satisfactory. I was not that impressed until my daughter got into the 3rd grade. Her teachers were Mrs. McDonald for and Mrs. Cole. Santa Fe Elementary North has the greatest teachers. I would especially like to commend Mrs. Burkhart, Mrs. Stringer and Mrs. Veasey or all they have taught my children. * In 2008-2009, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was used to test students in reading in grades 3 through 9; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in English language arts in grades 10 and 11; in mathematics in grades 3 through 11; in science in grades 5, 8, 10 and 11; and in social studies in grades 8, 10 and 11. TAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The grade 11 Exit Level TAKS is a high school graduation requirement. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
