All other NE high schools have a much stronger magnet program than does Mac. Parent participation along with administrative support is dismal and will hopefully improve. That being said, Mac is out-standing in all other areas.

... Read more campus is nice but let's be honest. I took every AP course there and when I came to college I felt like I knew absolutely nothing and was highly under prepared. And dont' worry I had a 3.77 gps so I was no slacker. If you want your kid to have 'fun', in which ever way to choose to define that then Mac is the way to go. If you're looking for quality and a place for your child to grow academically and personally then go somewhere else. Read less

I can't think of a better school that my childeren could have attended. I have one there and my middle son graduated in 2006. One of the reasons we moved to the mac area is so my kids could attend. The staff and teachers are so helpful and supportive. The administrators and principal are very involved

This is the best school in the city...hands down. The staff, teachers, students, and parents are all involved in everything. Everyone is involved at this school. There are so many extracurricular activites, organizations, and clubs that it is easy to fit in and do well. There is something for everyone and teachers, students, and administration are all very, very willing to help if you take initiative. This school stresses

In general, MacArthur is a good high school. It offers a wide range of classes as well as activities. My daughter was involved in choir and it was easy to notice the talent of the kids. Parent involvement seem average. It would depend of the parents williness to get involve with their kids activities.

Advanced Placement
