... Read more amazes me that a child that has never played an instrument can progress so quickly. I, for one, am truly grateful for the Mariachi program and all the other programs at the school. For anyone wondering what this school is like, please know that your child will be learning in an environment that allows them to expose their creative side as well. My child is a transfer student this year, and so far, she looks forward to attending school. I, by far, am glad that we switched her to this stimulating learning environment. Read less

The fine arts program is a one of a kind... Austin has an outstanding elementary band program and one of the only independent elementary mariachis around. They strive for TEA exemplary status with lots of tutoring and individual attention while daring to emphasize the fine arts. Step by step they are gaining recognition around the city as being something different... something beyond the norm. With plans to serve PK - 8th, I'm looking forward to my daughter having a safe and loving as well as educational 8 more years. Read less
* In 2010-2011, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was used to test students in reading in grades 3 through 9; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in English language arts in grades 10 and 11; in mathematics in grades 3 through 11; in science in grades 5, 8, 10 and 11; and in social studies in grades 8, 10 and 11. TAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The grade 11 Exit Level TAKS is a high school graduation requirement. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
