This has been my son's first year at Hightower High School. He had to really make some adjustments going from middle school to high school. He attended 8th grade at an exemplary school in sugar land. It hasn't been easy. Overall, he has done okay. Most teachers have been cooperative in terms of returning
... Read more emails, phone calls, etc. Initially, I had to email several times before I could get any response. And according to my son, a lot of the teachers don't have much control of the students with regard to talking and socializing in class. Recently, I was at the school and noticed male students with sagging pants and wearing athletic flip flop shoes with socks!! Personally...I feel that type of attire does not promote an academic atmosphere. However, I am impressed with the academies and AP curriculum. I would recommend this school. Read less

I am a 2007 graduate of Hightower, during my time there the school experienced huge losses of teachers each year but mostly due to administration, specifically principal, Patricia Paquin. There were many conflicts with the principal between students, teachers, assistant principles, and parents. We also

Good behavior from students has also hit an extreme low although the school has made less news appearances lately. Academically (this comes from someone that graduated from an academy, taken honors classes, and regular classes) if you are GT/Honors/AP or in the academies you will receive a good education that will prepare you well for college. I have two kids at Hightower who are not in the academies and doing wonderful academically. They really do prepare them for college in the AP classes. They have been active in one of the Music and Arts program there for four years (seniors now). HHS is not different from any of the other FBISD schools

It's not perfect, but no school is. A lot of the kids are brats, but I blam that on the parents. True, the academies are in demand, but it s also a good school for kids who are not in an academy. I give it thumbs up and do recommend it to others. Read less

Going to high school there has taught me more than I probably ever will for the rest of my life. It is an incredible diverse school, and it is what you make it.
