... Read more motivated to take advantage of those opportunities. Unfortuanely my son was one of the unmotivated ones. He's done 'OK', but if he had really taken advantage of all that EHS has to offer, he would have created a lot more post-high school options for himself. Its too many 'unmotivated' students, and they are rubbing off on others and bring the campus down as a whole. Read less

I go to Elkins school and i love it......it is not just a fun school the people are very friendly if you carry yourself right.........I only been going there for about 3 Months and i can say I like all my teachers...no i don't agree with everything that they do but hey that is at any school you go to.

My son is at Elkins. He is in the band and has had an good beginning in his first year at the school. He has felt very safe and very well cared for at the school. Academically, he is as challenged as he as ever been. But, this year he had an accident after school on campus. It was his fault (he
... Read more was on his skateboard in the parking lot.) The school acted quickly in obtaining emergency medical treatment for him, possibly saving his life. I cannot say enough good things about how the situation was handled. The administrators and medical personel were summoned and took care of him until help arrived. The administrators were in constant contact with me the entire time. Everything was handled with the utmost professionalism and genuine care for my child. My experience as a parent is that it promotes academic rigor, and an environment that communicates 'we're the best at what we do'. If your child is a 'discipline problem', please talk to him/her before enrolling them. Administrators and teachers are very 'by the book' when it comes to discipline and
... Read more there's not much compassion for personal outside issues (divorce, recent move, etc.) that somehow manage to affect your child at school. Again, this has been my experience. I can say that all of my child's teachers seem to genuinely care about my child excelling academically; they don't cut a lot of slack. Read less

My third child is attending Elkins now, and I feel she has great teachers. They provide tutorials and assistance when needed. Elkins provides a variety of extracurricular activities and I have seen great parent involvement this year. It has new administration and they seem to be working well together.

Advanced Placement
