This school is a godsend. We were so disappointed with the local schools beginning in 6th grade (middle school). Academics were terrible and discipine was a joke. Thank heaven for Sci Tech and the STISD middle school campus in Edinburg, now called South Texas Preparatory Academy. My son is a sophomore

He took the PSAT this year and scored just a few points less than the score needed to qualify as a National Merit Schlarship finalist. The atmosphere is excellent; unlike other local schools, the emphasis is on learning, creativity and achievement. There are plenty of clubs and extra-curricualr activities, even a running club and a basketball league. Anyone who thinks that a formal athletics program is a necessity probably wouldn't be happy here anyway. Read less
