My children moved from Jowell to Duryea and the first year I was far more satisfied than I had been for the 3 years at Jowell combined. The teachers are very personable and take time to communicate with notes or calls. The nurse calls just to say if your child is not ill but came in, the principal is

My 2 children attended Duryea for 2 years until they were rezoned. I really like Mrs Harbin, the principle because she is one of the most caring and involved principles I have met. You can always count on her to show up in any events even during chuck e cheese or skate night. She cares about her students

I disagreed on the other parents about the school not hving much extracurriculum. The problem this school has is overcrowding, having 1600 students!! I had to joing a website in order to get books for my first grader to read at his appropriate level because the school 'doesn't have any for them to take home' which I find very dissapointing. I am a teacher myself and can't see how a school funcitons without books for the children. If I could, I would transfer my children to another school. Read less

The teachers are great, and really seem to care about the development of all the children. The school hides behind the fact that they are brand new, and therefore there are so few events and extra activities to excite them about learning and exploring. Otherwise nice and clean, and well organized...
