Wakeland is a wonderful High School. The staff and teachers are so positive & caring. The student body is a great group of kids. This school is one of the best schools I have ever seen; the teachers are nice and everything but my son is making bad grades. I don't like how many students are failing there classes. They have CSI for the students that are failing and it doesn't seem to be helping my son at all. They keep throwing

Wakeland High School is the newest high school in Frisco, Texas. I have a 15 yr old son who is a freshman at Wakeland. The entire staff is professional and very accomodating. They all seem to want their students to learn and enjoy being at school. All the teachers are very excited to be teaching at Wakeland
... Read more and it is all so new! Dr. Farish is the principal and is a down to earth Texan and says that Wakeland is a family to him. He is a very dedicated professional individual. All the meetings that Dr. Farish has presented to the parents have all run very smoothly. Started on time and ended on time, and very informative. The sports programs are great. The fieldhouse and weight rooms are top notch and state of the art facilities. The football coaches are great with the kids and want them to perform at their best. Read less
* In 2006-2007, the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was used to test students in reading in grades 3 through 9; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in English language arts in grades 10 and 11; in mathematics in grades 3 through 11; in science in grades 5, 8, 10 and 11; and in social studies in grades 8, 10 and 11. TAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The grade 11 Exit Level TAKS is a high school graduation requirement. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.

Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.

A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
