My children are in fourth and first grades and it's been another GREAT YEAR at Startzville Elementary! My children are sad when summer gets here because they love school. Startzville Elementary is a great school. For a Title I school, the students receive so many additional learning opportunities unique to any other school in our district. There is a learning garden in the works, a Wii Fitness lab, a literacy lab and a learning lab. The faculty is out of this world
... Read more and you can tell when you walk in the school building that everyone wants to be there. There is a new Parent Resource Center that is helping to promote family/parent involvement and offers a wide variety of not only educational, parenting and informational classes or workshops but fun ones as well that gets parents engaged and building that social network within the school. The PTA has over the last two years become AWESOME and does a lot for the school. They hold movie nights, reading nights, carnivals, and a lot of other opportunities to get involved. Read less

My oldest girl has been attending this school for the 2nd year, she's in 3rd Grade now. She loves the school and teacher. My youngest just started Kindergarten and absoluately loves her teacher and going to school, that is a good sign for a parent!

My daughter started out 1st grade below grade level and because of her teacher and extra effort provided by the school - she was above grade level by the end of the year. In second grade she made all A's, and her teacher was awesome. I do agree that there should be more extracurricular activities,

Startzville Elementary is pretty good. The school-wide technology program is top-rate. Students begin in kindergarten learning keyboarding and data analysis. The Gifted and Talented teacher teaches a science lab for all students. Even the youngest students (kinder) do experiments in light, sound,
... Read more energy, etc. The older students are involved in contests using Newton's Laws of Physics. Most teachers are trained in differentiation of subject matter. My child, whose been at the school (formerly Mountain Valley) for 3 years, has had wonderful teachers who teach outside of the normal 'TAKS teaching'. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
