I agree totally with the comments on the TAKS test. My son was a 3rd grader last year. I truly think the school has the best intentions. However, they push too hard for TAKS and not the overall knowledge for the children. These kids are counting on our teachers to provide them with the best education

I believe that Cunningham is only focused on the TAKS test and not on the development of students. This year our children were rushed to learn the TAKS information only. Student were peer pressured and bribed to pass the TAKS test so that the school/teachers would rate high. You know that something
... Read more is wrong when a student is on the A/B honor roll all year and will fell because the student can't pass the TAKS reading test. You have to ask how the students are being graded. Example of the fact that this TAKS test is being crammed down students throats is that a child has failed to pass the TAKS test 3 times in a row; so the child is taken out of class and put into a special reading classes 3 times a week, as well as 3 times a week with an after school tutor. The child still has to make-up the missed work in which puts extra pressure on the student. The student is excused from all spelling test due to the special reading class. Now ask yourself is this how our children should be taught? By the time 3rd grade is over students should know their multiplication tables through 12, well not this year. The main subjects were barely touched on due to the TAKS test and Cunningham s poor ratings. What will become of the next generation? Our children s education is no joke! Read less
