woah im a sophmore at the school and its great. the school could be better though. some of the faculty are aware of how the job is done and smore teachers should be taught beter teaching methods but overall its a great school and im proud to be a yellowjacket

Worse school in the area. My daughter is a sophomore at AHS and we are moving soon due to lack of quality teachers and parental participation. Alvin is a nice, laid back little city but the school system is deplorable.

Read more colored constuction paper in 11th grade english that is a problem. this year i'm taking dual credit english, i feel so far behind in the class because it's challenging and i haven't been challenged in english since 8th grade(i went to a private school for junior high). there's a kid in the class with me who is completely confused most of the time because of the huge jump between the alvin highschool level and the college level honestly, any school who's regular classes don't come near readying kids for college is not a good school. This school needs to teach more than just what is in the TAKS, they need to teach skills that we actually need in life. Most of the core teachers think of only their paychecks and attendance. Only the extracurricular teachers seem to care about the student's grades.

... Read more students. The students here are out rageously disrespectful. If they would care more I believe the teachers would be superb! The do spend a lot of money on their male dominated sports programs. (The varsity football team lost every game this season)Some of the money could go towards the classes that can't afford a class set of books. The availability of sports and fine arts has always been growing, with a new fine arts facility, new tennis and basketball courts, an impressive baseball and football fields and a pool. There is a significant amount of parent involvement and care, which is solidly proved by there active involvement in graduation for the seniors, prom, sports activities and school sponsored events. Advanced Placement
