No air conditioning for when you have to run to your next class without time for your locker so you end up carrying a 50lb backpack everywhere, and no mercy for when you arrive late despite skipping locker privileges. this school is horrible, sending freshmen students all around the whole school, both ...  Read more

we moved here from ky, my son loves cherokee he is in rotc, he had great grades, he is in advanced classes and made good friends. He enjoys it hes even going to ledership camp this summer, and they have vocational school there too Im happy!

I have had children that have went through this school. It did not prepare them very well for college even though they were above average students. The principal(s) operate on keeping the politically correct happy, not on improving the standards of the school

This school is average among towns of this size. As usual, politics and prestige play a huge part in the success of your child. Administration does not seem to want to raise the bar for our kids and set standards a little higher.

Cherokee High School is dirty, degrading and depraved of any kind of educational standard. Some teachers stand out, and I find myself asking why are they stuck here, they should be elsewhere teaching kids who actually care where they end up in life. As a former student I am very familiar with cherokee high. From personal experience I have found that cherokee fails to prepare students for higher levels of education. I consider Cherokee to be an average high school. As with any institution, the quality of teachers varies. I took mostly honors courses and found that I had several outstanding teachers who really cared about me and pushed me to further my education beyond high school. Cherokee is one of the finer schools in the entire state. Those who condemn could not handle it. I would not allow my child to go anywhwere else.

* In 2007-2008 Tennessee used the Gateway/End-of-Course (EOC) exams to test high school students in language arts, math, science and social studies upon completion of relevant courses. The results for algebra I and English 2 are displayed on GreatSchool profiles. The scores reflect the performance of students enrolled for the full academic year. Students must pass the algebra I, English 2 and biology I tests, called the Gateway exams, in order to graduate. The Gateway/EOC exams are standards-based tests that measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Tennessee. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
