My daughter came to Hutchison Middle School from a public optional school in East Memphis and I could not be more pleased with our choice. Sure, we heard all the comments about elitism and average academics but those stereotypes were no where to be found. My daughter was welcomed with open arms and many

Academically, the faculty and administration have challenged my daughter with a diverse and integrated curriculum and when I read the comments about average and above average academics, I had to pause and think what could my daughter have at other schools which would be more challenging and there were none. The faculty is the best I know of and challenges my daughter to be her best as a scholar and prson. Read less

I am a former student and a parent of a graduate of Hutchison. The academics are above average (but below St. Mary's) and the campus is beautiful. However, the environment is misleading. In these hallowed walls are some of the most elite, snobby, and cliquish people in Memphis. My daughter graduated

You look at St. Mary's and MUS's college lists, and they are far more impressive. I believe the guidance counselors at Hutch really drop the ball in helping them make good college choices. I don't regret sending her there, always felt safe dropping her off, but feel the elitist environment they create does not help the girls as they move on in life. Read less

I agree with the parent about fun and games. For me, it seems that Hutchison Middle is all about fun and games. Every time I turned around there was another 'fun day'. Between the loss of half their teaching staff and the lack of committment to academics in the middle school, my daughter is going

My daughter came to Hutchison from another school. Girls who had been there a long time already had their friends and my daughter, while initially accepted, found herself with few meaningful friends within a short time. Hutchison has blessed our family beyond what words can express. Truly dedicated teachers who love their students are the norm, not the exception. The driving force behind all decisions made at every level in the school is doing what is best for the girls. Sometimes this might mean that a teacher who

But, ultimately, what is best for the girls wins out.
