The teachers are really great. They work with you on whatever you might need. The assisdent principal is wonderful and goes out of her way to be there for you and your children. The pricipal on the other hand has no respect for anyone and acts quite childish at times. She picks and chooses favoites and
... Read more will label certain students as trouble makers and if something happens she will blame those certain students every time wether they were even in school on the day it happened. The building has several additions on it, the septic doesn't always work so if it doesn't flush the students will leave it in the stools for who knows how long. Fundraisers allow this wonderful National Blue Ribbon school to achieve a quality academic program. The computer lab and library are excellent. Donations have started a music program. Steekee is a wonderful place for your child to grow, learn, and be loved. Every child is special and valued at Steekee. Steekee has wonderful parental support. Steekee Elementary is wonderfully warm, small, and rural school. The faculty and staff know and care about each child. The tools for learning available at Steekee are just as good as any other school I've compared them to. I feel like with the right teacher my child has a very good chance of success. ... Read more about the school is they ask for money and supplies every time you turn around. I do not expect anyone but my husband and I to pay for my child's school supplies. Last year my child's class was pressured greatly by his teacher to participate in the fundraisers and donating items. The teacher went so far as to say They would be letting their school down and wouldn't be good students if they didn't participate. My child is there to learn, not to be a salesperson. Read less
* In 2007-2008 Tennessee used the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) Achievement Test to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading/language arts, math, science and social studies, and in grades 5 and 8 in writing. Advanced Placement
