My fifth grade son actually tests at 9th grade level. The library staff is phenomenal and goes out of their way to promote reading and takes a unique interest in students. The music instuctor is unbelievable, and they are the only elementary school that I am familiar with that still does a christmas program. We're not even zoned to that school but choose to attend. My daughter is graduating from 8th grade this year and has gone to SBA since kindergarten. Her teachers have always gone way over their roll of just teaching her in adademics. They treated her like a child of their own and this is why she is so confident of herself and has been on the high honor roll
... Read more since 3rd grade. My son is also in 3rd grade this year and has loved all of his teachers as well. He is also on the high honor roll and has many friends. The students at SBA are more like a family and treated very fairly by the teachers as well as the principal. The key to any childs success is being actively involved with their education and vollunteering as a parent at their school. The Art programs are out of this world. I have five children at this school, and my children have never had any problems with bullying. When my oldest children transferred from another school, they actually struggled in some subjects because the curriculum was harder than what they were used to in the city school system. The principal is always willing to help with any problem, if you go to her with your concerns. * In 2007-2008 Tennessee used the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) Achievement Test to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading/language arts, math, science and social studies, and in grades 5 and 8 in writing. Advanced Placement
