Read what parents are saying about Sumter AcademyThe family atmosphere at TSA is just incredible. It is a home away from home for my three daughters
Posted by a parent on 2/27/2017I am always amazed at the fact that people look at the same thing and see it totally opposite. People are different. Consider that it is difficult to teach 'special needs children' and therefore while sometimes it may be teachers that are the problem, it can also be the student that is the problem.. I have always heard good things about this school. It is a much needed school in this area...concerned supporter of the school
Posted by a community member on 5/5/2014This school is not as advertised. There is one teacher (the original founder of the school) who actually teaches & cares about the students. The others are not interested in helping and in general have very negative attitudes toward the kids. They lock the doors of the school around 2:45 (the school day officially ends at 3) & wait outside with the kids until they are picked up. If a child has forgotten something inside the school (a jacket, homework, etc), they are usually not allowed to go back to get it. Keep in mind these are children with learning difficulties, such as autism, ADHD, etc, who are quite likely to forget things. The school does have small class sizes, but other than that, I saw no special attempts to tailor the teaching to kids with learning difficulties. This school is not worth the tuition they charge or the 15-20 minute drive out to the country to get there. Save your money and time and look elsewhere!
Posted by a parent on 11/4/2013My daughter was behind in her studies and struggling in social settings due to low self-esteem. My co-workers recommended Sumter Academy. Sumter Academy turned my teenager around. Not only did her attitude toward toward school and learning improve, but, our family life improved due to her elevated self-esteem. I am very thankful for the staff at Sumter Academy for helping my daughter achieve goals that may not have been reachable a few years ago. Michelle

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are on year 3 at Sumter Christian School and have enjoyed every year so far. The staff is great and my kids love going to school every day. They are excited about what they learn everyday and have great ratios for class sizes. We are engaged by all of our kids teachers on a regular basis. They do a wonderful job keeping parents updated regarding students progress in class.Parent Review5mo ago - William Thomas Academy

The students collaborate on group projects frequently and the teachers development engaging lessons. The administrators are approachable and always willing to help.Parent Review2y ago - Crosswell Drive Elementary

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school in 2001-2006. My time there was bad because I was bullied a lot and the teachers never really did anything about it. But once the bully was being bullied themselves. They did something about it. Which is weird because they have a no bully tolerance zone policy. Which was ineffective and they never really followed. I remember my 3rd grade teacher making me stay behind for lunch because I couldn't get the division problems right. I had a learning disability and she wasn't really helping me. We had reported it to the prinicipal and she tried talking to her but the same thing kept happening. In the 4th grade, I had another chance to move after leaving the school in the 4th grade. But I decided once we got back. I wanted to finish out my grade and not have gone to three different elementary schools. So anyways, I came back thinking that the forth grade would be different. But the same thing happened again. I moved the following year in the fifth grade and I decided to go to the same school.I just wished that I would've known better and went to a different elementary school that actually helped.Other Review7y ago - Millwood Elementary
