My daughter attended Fort Mill schools all 12 years of school. The experience was outstanding and I can honestly say she got a private school education in a public school environment. I graduated from Fort Mill High School in 2005. What I sadly have not seen on these reviews is the excellent band and music programs it has. The band has won state championships over 20 times in their class, and their percussion section has won many world championships. I was in that percussion section
... Read more and would say that the lessons i learned have shaped me to be the successful person I am today. All in all the teachers are great, food is great and everything else. My only complaint would be that there can be some pretty overly-enforced rules on things such as 'public displays of affections' (which some teachers would consider a hug as, and the dress codes. Problems like over-crowding, under-funded programs, and teachers who don't like to come to work every day are just a few of the problems they speak of. I am student who will be graduating in the year 2009. I have found nothing but positive experinces at Fort Mill. The overwhelming majority of the faculty are excellent and enthusiastic to teach. the teachers are able to give time to each student who needs it and it is not uncommon for teachers to remain
... Read more after school working with students. The extraciricular activities are excelent as well. Though not overly competitive to football, it is well organized and run, and the rest of the sports are considered amoung the best in the state. Academic activties are well executed. The drama productions are all excelent and lead by a very dedicated group of teachers. Fort Mills programs are an as important part of the school as any other aspect and all the students take pride in the teams. Read less

I attend FMH and enjoy it very much. I feel like I get a first class education, even though the school building itself isn't in the best condition- like the new high school in Fort Mill. The teachers and staff here are 1 in a million. The new principle, Dee Christopher, is a nice guy too.

On the surface, fort mill is a great school. Great grades, teachers, test scores, and tough administration. But as a student, it seems like a constant amount of work without ever rewarding the students for making fort mill such a great school. Student (and especially senior) rewards and incentives

Parents, if your lucky enough to enroll your child in any of Ms Volkes classes. You will see an unbelievable transformation in positive feelings towards classes at fort Mill high. Ask any student, past or present, that has taken her classes and they will reiterate the same sentiment. She has their attention.

I attended the school from 2000-2004, and I thought it was one of the better experiences of my life. The classes can be challenging, but there are really good teachers there that help you out a lot. There is a great sports program at the school with sufficient funding, good coaches, and an enthused student body at every game, no matter how bad the team might be. FMHS has a great class schedule with only four classes a semester. And with only four classes a semester how can you not do good? I am majoring in History Education, and attending FMHS for four years made me want pursue teaching. Teachers there connect with you on a personal level and really act like they care. Go jackets. Advanced Placement
