I am not and never have been a student at CHS, I am a former student from Lee County. My younger sister goes to CHS and I can tell anybody that the two schools, LCHS and CHS, are two totally different worlds. My sister seems to be learning more than I ever could have in Lee County. I am truly thankful

Maybe my sister will be prepared to suceed in her life, as so many Lee County students have tried but failed to do. ... Read more parent needs to look at how involved they are and not blame the teachers. I am not saying it is all the parents fault, but their involvement does matter. Now for other issues, if people would look at surrounding counties they may find Camden High is a much superior school. Complain about laptops? Camden High School has replaced teaching with laptop computers. These high school students want to surf the internet, instant message and email friends all day. This district is teaching in a way that is such a tremendous burden on the students and parents. Parents are responsible for these computers
... Read more and are required to take out insurance at a cost of $50.00. Giving high school students access to the internet all day long during school is a major problem. This method does not teach writing skills and will only deteroriate. The new SAT has writing and these students will be even less prepared for the new test. Students and parents have to worry about their computer getting damaged and/or stolen. Our school board should not have approved this method of teaching. It is not helpful and it's causing my child to fail. Teachers are using laptops to teach for them. UNFAIR! Read less

This is the best high school in the county but that does not make it a nationwide competitor of excellence. The principal seems to genuiely care but is restrained by the environment of a small town. Study's show that students who are exposed to more rigorous classes improve test scores tremendously
... Read more and after changing schools my child improved test score by 200 points in one year. The few higher classes offered were always filled and there were 'no' exceptions. Principal would not help to get more kids in higher classes. Fights were all too common. Guidance counselors were not the least helpful. Too much emphasis is placed on sports rather than quality academics. There are some excellent teachers at CHS but really have no say-so in making the needed improvements. Read less

After graduating from CHS I got to college and I realized just how unprepared I was. I had a 3.8 GPA in high school and soon found out I needed remedial classes. We did have a State Championship in Football and even had autograph signing at a local fast food resturant...that was awesome. I did not do
... Read more well on the SAT but only 39% of us took the test so I guess that I was above avg. by trying. CHS is a great little school if you plan to stay in the local area. It is slow paced which allows more time for friends and sports. I enjoyed my four years at CHS and Coach Neal is the best but I did have a tough time academically when I tried college. Go Bulldogs! It can certainly be said that Camden High School is among the most excellent high schools in South Carolina. Not only is the school well known throughout the state for its athletic program and both its award winning marching band and JROTC, but also for its students superior academic performance.
... Read more This level of success is possible due to the determination of the students, teachers, and administrators. Granted, there are fewer honors and advanced placement classes, but this simply means that there weren't as many students who qualified or who requested to take these classes. Yes, it is true, not all students are recommended for honors or AP classes based on past performance; the administration wants each student to be challenged and successful, not overwhelmed. As a result of much effort, Camden High School is a highly accomplished community of which any person should be proud to be a member. Read less

Well kept grounds, projects pride in school. Sports are given high priority at this school. Academics are weak, social environment is cliques. Advanced classes are always filled and very limited to 'who' is allowed to take the few classes that are offered. Students/parents have no say-so in what classes

Guidance counselors are not helpful and you have to request a meeting in writing as a student or parent to speak with one. Administration does interact in hallways during class changes which is unusual for this district and reduces violence. Read less

Advanced Placement
