Pennfield's academic standards are unmatched. They seek excellence in every facet of the Pennfield education. We have a gifted child. She has attended the school since 5th grade. She has always been challenged intellectually. In grades 6, 7, and 8, considered upper school, the work load increases
... Read more dramatically. Much is demanded of the students. The vast majority of them rise to the challenge. Teachers are enthusiastic and stimulate learning. The Headmaster is the best I have ever seen, and I've seen a few. There are many bright children at this school. The graduates gain acceptance to some of the best boarding schools in the country. This is what made us decide to send our child to Pennfield. It is the best decision we have ever made. Read less

Pennfield is an outstanding school. The academic curriculum is challenging and teaches a child how to think critically. It teaches them to love learning. The school does standardized testing (ERBs) yearly to evaluate the children and effectiveness of its teachers and curriculum. I believe the testing

The administration advocates respect for the individual and expects the same from its students. My child attended a competing private school in the area. Though equivalent academically, Pennfield provides a more wholesome environment. Teacher and administrators not only preach good values but live them. They are excellent role models. Pennfield provides a very positive learning experience for children in many aspects including encouraging children to express themselves. Unfortunately, they are having trouble with dealing with the kids that express themselves as bullies. They seem to deal with the problem in a too gentle nature. They

Overall Pennfield is a beautiful school, inside and out. The quality of the education is the concern. Pennfield seems to be driven on the fact their only interest is in highly self-motivating students from 3rd grade on. They do not adopt a policy of 'No student is left behind'. For a whopping $12,000, a parent would think their child would be given the extra care and guidance if there is a struggle, however minor (A's & mostly B's) borderline C (in reading) in my son's case, but the school will not accept that sort of a student to continue his/hers education with them. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
